Born in suburban Detroit in 1941, Jerry Seiner was immersed in the auto industry from a young age. His father was Henry Ford’s personal electrician, giving Jerry a unique perspective on the industry. He began his career in advertising for the Detroit News and the Wall Street Journal, which further ignited his passion for the automotive world. In 1975, Jerry purchased a Chevrolet dealership in Cadillac, Michigan, marking the first step toward his dream. Five years later, in 1980, Chevrolet presented him with the opportunity to acquire a dealership in Salt Lake City, where he continued to build his legacy.

Growth and Legacy

From a single Chevrolet dealership, the Seiner Dealerships have expanded to ten franchises across four locations, representing brands like Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Kia, and Isuzu Truck. Over four decades in Utah, Jerry Seiner has become a household name, and the company proudly employs over 600 people dedicated to providing exceptional customer service.

Jerry’s business acumen earned him numerous accolades, including an 18-year membership in the General Motors’ President’s Council and the prestigious “Dealer of the Year” award from GM. In 2016, he was inducted into the New Car Dealers of Utah Hall of Fame.

Beyond his business achievements, Jerry found his greatest satisfaction in mentoring employees and fostering their professional growth. The long tenure of many key leaders at Seiner Dealerships—some for over 30 years—is a testament to his commitment to “Making Friends to Last a Lifetime.”

A New Generation of Leadership

In 2012, Jerry passed the torch to a new generation of leadership. Chris Hemmersmeier, Jerry’s son-in-law, acquired majority ownership of the dealerships. Having joined the company in 1991, Chris shared Jerry’s vision for an exceptional customer experience. Under his leadership, the Seiner brand has continued to grow, building on a foundation of customer service, employee development, and community involvement. Chris has also expanded the company’s footprint, adding two dealerships in Arizona and two in Nevada.
